Before folklore I probably would have still said that my favorite Taylor Swift song was “Fifteen,” or perhaps “Style,” but now “cardigan” stands out as the finest jewel in her crown. If ever there was a truly perfect song encapsulating everything that we love about Swift, surely “cardigan” is that high-water mark.

I remember the first time I heard this song last year. I was in the hospital when my mental health got really bad and in my room they gave me a radio to listen to music. “Next up on 107.9 is Taylor Swifts song ‘Cardigan’ from her new album Folklore.” I sat on the windowsill at 1 a.m. looking over the beautiful city, being the loneliest I have ever been in my life. I am a lot better now but that was over a year ago and this song means so much to me.

She’s been in music industry more than a decade. People might say she’s old. There are a lot of artists trending right now. She’s like an old cardigan. But she’s always a favorite to all.
