Credit Spread
The credit spread is the yield premium of a non-government bond over a risk-free benchmark of comparable maturity, representing the extra compensation investors require for credit risk. It is typically expressed in basis points (bp).
Example: For example, a 5-year corporate bond yields 4.75% while the 5-year U.S. Treasury yields 2.75%; the credit spread is 200 basis points.
