Equity Value

Equity value is the market value attributed to a company’s shareholders’ equity, representing the total value of all outstanding equity securities (common and any preferred shares) as determined by current prices. In practice, it is often proxied by market capitalization for firms with only common stock.

Example: If a company has 120 million shares outstanding and the current price is $45, its equity value is $5.4 billion.
