Forward Contract

A forward contract is a customized, non-standardized agreement between two parties to exchange an asset at a specified price on a future date. It is typically traded over-the-counter (OTC) and settled at maturity either by delivery of the asset or by cash.

Example: A manufacturing company enters into a forward contract with a supplier to exchange a fixed amount of copper at a set price in six months to stabilize cash flows.
