Market Depth

Market depth refers to the quantity of buy and sell orders at various price levels for a security, as displayed in the order book beyond the best bid and best ask. It provides a view of available liquidity across prices rather than just the top quotes.

Example: A trader reviews market depth for a stock and notes sizable resting buy orders at several price levels below the best ask, suggesting liquidity may be available to absorb a modest order without immediate price movement.
