Net Book Value

Net Book Value (NBV) is the value at which an asset is carried on a company’s balance sheet, calculated as the asset’s original cost minus accumulated depreciation (and amortization or impairment, as applicable).

Example: A manufacturing facility was purchased for $50 million and has $12 million in accumulated depreciation, resulting in an NBV of $38 million on the balance sheet.
