Plain Vanilla Swap

A plain vanilla swap is a standard interest rate derivative in which two parties exchange fixed-rate and floating-rate interest payments on a notional amount, with no principal exchanged.

Example: A company with a floating-rate loan enters into a plain vanilla swap to pay a fixed rate on a $100 million notional for five years, while receiving payments tied to a floating reference rate such as SOFR.
