Property, Plant, And Equipment

Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E) are long-lived tangible assets used in a company’s operations. They are recorded on the balance sheet at cost and depreciated over their estimated useful lives (land is not depreciated).

Example: A manufacturer adds a new production line for $2.0 million, recording it to PP&E at cost and beginning depreciation over its estimated useful life.
