Representativeness Heuristic
A mental shortcut in which judgments about the probability or frequency of an event are driven by how closely it resembles a familiar example, rather than by objective base rates or statistics.
Example: An investor judges that a biotech stock will perform like another company because the recent pattern resembles that example, ignoring broader market data and the company’s fundamentals.
