Reserve Requirement
The portion of banks’ deposits that must be held as reserves at the central bank and cannot be lent out.
Example: For example, a bank with $120 billion in deposits would need to hold a larger amount as reserves if the reserve requirement were raised, reducing funds available for lending, all else equal.
