Yield Spread
The yield spread is the difference between the yields of two debt instruments with similar maturities, typically expressed in basis points. It reflects the extra compensation investors require for risks beyond time to maturity, such as credit quality and liquidity.
Example: If a corporate bond yields 5.20% and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield is 3.20%, the yield spread is 200 basis points.
