Systematic Risk

Systematic risk, also called market risk or non-diversifiable risk, is the portion of an asset's risk tied to factors that affect the entire market and cannot be eliminated through diversification. These broad forces include macroeconomic shifts, geopolitical events, and changes in monetary policy.

Example: During a broad market downturn, many stocks tend to fall in tandem regardless of company-specific news, illustrating systematic risk.
